Nancy Wood
Watercolours |
Born in London in 1961 Nancy has had a strong interest in art since she left school. Completely self-taught, Nancy left her job three years ago to paint professionally and now devotes all her time to developing her unique personal style.
Nancy lives and works part of the time in Cheshire part of the time painting in her Southampton based studio. Living in two counties has helped to establish her name as a "local" artist in both places.
Her work depicts various colourful subjects including florals, fishes and birds which are vibrant yet harmonious. She depicts her chosen subject in sharp focus and heightens the effect with a soft abstract background which invites the viewer to explore what lies beyond.
Pure watercolour is Nancy's medium. It is particularly challenging but gives a special transparency which cannot be achieved with oils or gouache. Much of her time is spent painting commissioned works for both private and corporate purchasers as well as an ever growing number of exhibitions and increasing demand from galleries around the UK.
Nancy occasionally demonstrates watercolour techniques at local watercolour classes, has licensed some of her work to for greetings cards and has recently been accepted as a full member of the 'Society of Floral Painters'. |
