Paul Monteagle, established in the world of commercial art as an illustrator and designer is now making a name for himself in the fine art world. Endorsed by
publishers and commerce, the music industry and advertising, his realist style coupled with a sympathetic approach to subject has resulted in a powerful
combination of visual accuracy and artistic integrity.
Paul Monteagle was born in Yorkshire in 1955. He commenced his art training at York in 1974 and subsequently attained a BA (Hons) in painting from St
Martins college of Art, London in 1978 as a student of David Trindle, John Hoy and Gillian Ayers. Immediately finding a market for his work, it was as an
illustrator that his reputation began to grow. Ranging from record sleeves and book covers to his work for Airfix, Paul's work is in constant demand, many
clients choosing to purchase the originals of commercially commissioned work. Paul's work is now in many private collections in Europe and America as well as Great Britain.
On top of his work commitments Paul lectures at Harrogate College of Arts & Technology in the Visual Communications department. It can be a difficult line to walk between the commercial and fine art world but Paul has managed where many have faltered and if he can continue in this manner there is a promise of exciting things to come. |
